I want to give others what I wish I had myself — an easy, transparent, simple way to manage myself and the co-parenting financial relationship.
Like many ideas, they come from personal lived experience and the genuine desire to help others benefit from that experience. That is the spirit behind Simple Split and the energy that drives our CEO and Founder’s devotion to making the financial co-parenting and expense sharing relationship easy for everyone. Her goal: make splitting simple, and it is the driver behind Simple Split.
Our Founder Nancy Gharib was going through an unexpected divorce, navigating the new territory of being a single mom and what the ‘new normal’ parenting relationship looked like. Nancy felt trapped lacking the tools, advice, and support that she needed. Taking what she learned, she created an easy way to avoid tensions associated with financial exchanges, and in the process, help avoid countless others the same challenges she experienced.
What she found most demanding on her time was the back-and-forth conversations and managing the financial relationship. Keeping track of a growing pile of paper and receipts for her kids’ expenses became one more thing to do.
Simple Split started to help separating and divorcing couples and quickly morphed into a personalized text-based service. Simple Split’s job: let parents do what they do best — parent, while turning the paper handling over to a trusted advisor.
I wish I had someone to guide me and walk me through the financial sharing process, from managing financial discussions to the financial exchange. Feeling unorganized is a horrible feeling when you’re juggling all the balls of being a co-parent, add to that the tension of awkward conversations. It became something I avoided. The result: a mess of paper and unsettled expenses that grew by the day.

It was important to me to make Simple Split financially accessible for everyone. That’s when I realized that Simple Split provides an easy way for anyone needing to track and share expenses, and I expanded the tool to include tracking for personal and business expenses.
